Essie Gel Couture Collection – My Favorite Pinks

Essie is hands-down one of my favorite nail polish brands. Their colors are always so fun for each season! When I heard about the Essie Gel Couture collection, I was so excited! Immediately I picked out my favorite pinks and tried them out! They claim that they last “up to 14 days.” Aren’t you quite eager to see if they do?! Scroll through my photos and I’ll let you know my thoughts towards the end of this post!

Essie Gel Collection color: Spool Me Over [photo above]. This is a very pretty light peachy pink. It almost looks like a nude on your nails. This is a great color for every day, a more formal event, or for a business-formal work environment.

Essie Gel Collection color: Couture Curator [photo above]. Similar to Spool Me Over, but this is a bit more pink-toned. Inside it has a very nice neutral hue, but once you get outside this color turns almost cotton candy pink. Very cute for the weekends, but not amazing for everyday wear.

Essie Gel Collection color: Haute To Trot [photo above].  A beautiful pink with blue undertones. Slightly bubblegum, but a bit more grown up. This pink will be great with neutral outfits in the spring and winter.

Essie Gel Collection color: Modern Citizen [photo above]. A darker version of the previous pink, Haute to Trot, this has a slight blue undertone but is more suited for the season of summer (and also winter & spring!). I would call this a light fuschia and it’s definitely classy enough for a business casual work environment.

Essie Gel Collection color: The IT-Factor [photo above].  This one shows up lighter in photos than the actual color. Think of a deep watermelon color; pink-red. It’s a stunning color for summer and I’m sure I’ll be wearing this one often. A great everyday alternative to your typical “red.”

Overall, the colors are very beautiful! And the first use of the new brush shape was amazing! The polish covered my nails with ease! Each polish needed at least 2 coats, which is typical, but the lighter colors needed an additional coat for extra coverage.

After using the polish color, you complete your mani with the clear top coat which can last “up to 14 days.” Here’s where my input comes in… it lasted 4 days for me. Not 14. Granted, I clean my home, do laundry, run errands, play with my puppies and by no means “baby” my nails. But I feel like 4 days is quite short for a product claiming it can last “up to 14.” On the other hand, I must add that my normal nail polish chips within 1 to 2 days, so this IS a bit of an improvement, but not as great as I hoped.

Nevertheless, the colors are beautiful and I’ve been able to get 2 extra days without having to redo my mani. So I’m still feeling pretty good about this collection!

UPDATE 12/8/16: I gave the line a second try and this time my color lasted 12 days! The key is the use a base coat! My favorite is here. Then make sure you coat the tip of your nail with color and the top coat! So happy I can get 10-12 days with adding the base coat on!

Have you tried Essie Gel Couture? Did it last 14 days? What are your favorite colors?

I’ve found that any polish that claims 14 days or so, never happens. I get the 4 days too. I usually get a real shellac at a salon if I need it to last through a vacation or something! But, these colors are super pretty!

Totally agree! Whenever vacations approach, a salon mani is key! But for everyday wear I’ll take the 4 days! =)

I love Essie but always seem to have a hard time keeping it on my nails. Maybe I will have to try this new collection! Thank you for sharing.

I just bought two of these over the weekend (one was Model Citizen!) but haven’t tried them out yet. I really hope that they’re long-lasting!

These are some really pretty shades of nail polish!! It’s too bad that it didn’t last the 14 days but I guess a few extra days is good too!
