Unlike most little girls, I never dreamt of what my wedding would be like. That is, of course, until I met Kevin. Less than a year into dating, we both knew we were inseparable! =) Naturally, around that point of time, I started to envision our special day. After attending multiple weddings, Kevin and I both agreed we wanted a very classic/timeless wedding that was also unique. In addition, we wanted to ensure our guests had an amazing time and that they were fed extremely well.
After Kevin proposed to me on July 17, 2012 (at the same spot where we had our first kiss! How romantic!), it was time to celebrate & plan! We both couldn’t wait to be married and were so excited to plan our wedding! Thankfully, my Pinterest wedding boards were already filling up with awesome inspirations to help us get started!
We scoured the web, looking at all the possible wedding venues in Wisconsin. The Grain Exchange in Milwaukee caught our eye! It was love at first sight. The second we walked in to the Grain Exchange room, we were hooked. It reminded me of Beauty & The Beast’s ballroom. You may think that’s silly, but it’s so true! Here is what their website says:
“Awe inspiring. Truly breathtaking. Elegant and grandiose.
The Grain Exchange elicits all these responses and more, with its unparalleled beauty and historic decor. A three story, nearly 10,000 sq. ft. room, located in downtown Milwaukee’s Mackie Building, showcases soaring ceilings, frescos, handsome granite, limestone, and sandstone and is described, architecturally, as “simple Italian.” There is a 175 ft. bell tower in the center of the room, yet the focus of this outstanding facility is ultimately the shining performance of Bartolotta Catering and Events. Superseding the standards of this majestic room, we offer four-star, restaurant quality food with unprecedented service for private events.”
And that was that. We made up our mind right then and there! After the date and venue were booked, everything else followed smoothly! Our parents were so helpful and supportive throughout the whole process!! We couldn’t have had our wonderful wedding without them!
From an scrumptious dinner, a glamorous fondant cake, late night snacks, kid’s activity packets, glow sticks for the dance floor, a continuous open bar, a photo booth, a choreographed first dance, to bubbles for our getaway, we made sure no detail was left overlooked! =) I truly believe that our friends and family enjoyed the celebration as much as we did!
