Soft Black Maxi + Vegas

Every once in a while, I get to tag along with my husband on a business trip. This time around, it was to Vegas! Being drawn to warm weather, I knew I couldn’t pass this one up! (Plus, we found out that Kevin’s brother and our sister-in-law were going to be there a few of the same days that Kevin was going – we didn’t want to miss meeting up with them in LV!)

Looking at the weather for a good two weeks ahead of our trip, I was super nervous. It was consistently showing a forecast around 110+ degrees! That’s not really our kind of “warm weather!” But nevertheless, we hopped on the plane and landed in 108 degree weather. Stepping out of the airport doors, I literally couldn’t breathe. I had to walk back inside to catch a breath. It felt like we were in an oven. One Starbucks iced venti 1/2 black, 1/2 passion tea later and I felt refreshed enough to catch the shuttle to our hotel: The Mirage. 

We were on the 15th floor and it was perfect! Well, almost… I say “almost” because I can barely handle the smoke! Walking past and through the casino was terrible for someone who deliberately stays away from areas that aren’t smoke-free. Regardless, we had a wonderful time sitting by the pool, exploring the city, dining in new places, and simply relaxing! After the first day, we were used to the extreme warmth! 

One of my favorite outfits this trip included my soft black maxi dress. At first, it had a very high slit which I modified by sewing mid-way. After I sewed it, the slit was a perfect height! It was dressy enough for dinner, yet cool enough for walking around. I paired it with my Kendra Scott jewelry and fabulous Henri Bendel bag for an easy, chic look.
