Oh boy… it’s Monday again. How did the weekend fly by so fast? =( It seems like there isn’t enough time in a day, especially Saturday and Sunday! Anywho, I have a funny story to share with you about some of my #firstworldproblems lol. Here it goes…
As most of you know, I work at a large corporation. Every one and a half-ish years we can upgrade our phones. I’ve been on the “S schedule” – 4S, 5S, and now… the 6S Plus. I planned it this way on purpose. I wanted to get my 4S rather than the 4, so I could upgrade to the “S” every time a new one comes out to have the new features. Of course, the 6S’s were just released and my colleague and I anxiously awaited the phones being released on our internal mobile site. Finally a week after they were available for pre-order I saw them on the site! I quickly confirmed with my manager that it was okay for me to upgrade and then placed the order. My colleague placed his order as well.
A day passed and my manager hadn’t hit the “approve” button to move the process forward to actually ordering. Both my colleague and I kept sending little reminders like “I can’t wait to get my new phone,” “I wonder if the 6S is really that different that the previous iPhones?” and finally “Hey, M, can you approve the orders so we can get our phones?!” He teased us for another day and finally hit approve. I was STOKED. I kept refreshing the status and was wondering why it wasn’t being sent. Our company makes sure it’s overnight shipping, so I was bothered. I finally contacted the IT dept and they said they weren’t offered the 6S’s or 6S Plus’s since they didn’t think they upgrade was worth it and that I should just get the 6 Plus. Nope. Nope. Nope. I held out longer than I needed to so I could get the 6S Plus. I kept checking the mobile question thread for our company. People kept asking about availability and IT people kept saying our business wasn’t planning on getting them…yet. Well… when, then?!
Finally, my colleague had an awesome idea… he contacted our “Mobile Leader” and made a case for us to have the newest iPhones. We work in Digital Marketing – mobile apps, websites, emails, etc. We need to keep up with new technology. The leader agreed and placed our orders. Phew! We were lucky! In a company with 10s of thousand of employees, we will be in the handful that had the new phones. I felt so blessed.
Then I read the sales confirmation. The lady ordered me the 6S, not the 6S Plus. Seriously? I emailed and called her right away. But the phone had already shipped. We agreed that I’d get the phone then ship it back and the new one will be mailed out right away. I had no issues with that! One day later than I’d expected, I’d have my new iPhone 6S Plus, Gold, 64GB. So excited!
After about one hour, she sent me a note stated she had bad news and good news. Good news was my new phone was ordered. Bad news was that it’s backordered for weeks, even months. WHAT?! By this point of time, I felt like I was never going to get my new phone.
The next day, the iPhone 6S was delivered to me and I just had to open it. I looked at it and was so tempted to just activate it and say, “Too bad, I’ll just keep this one!” I’ve always had white/silver and this one is gold. So pretty! But I really, really want the larger version. So I have to wait. Today I’ll be sending back the iPhone 6S and hoping and praying I’ll get a order confirmation for the iPhone 6S Plus, soon!! (I heard they are shipping out November 2nd).
So… in the next few weeks… I have to try to have patience. The quote I chose for this week is:
“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” – Joyce Meyer
This is so true. And I need to remember that this is such a little thing in the scheme of life and that I’m blessed to even have a paid work phone and a new one at that! =)
