The leaves are starting to turn gorgeous colors which means fall is almost here! Besides a cool summer day, the beginning of fall exudes my favorite type of weather: mid-70s! Even though we’re having a pretty warm September, so far, chilly weather is soon to follow! Since the drop in temps is inevitable, I’ve been on the hunt for some perfect fall jackets to take me from September all the way to cooler days in November and beyond! BUT… before I went on my shopping spree at the Boston Store‘s semi-annual Goodwill® Sale and added many more pieces to my already full wardrobe, I made sure to take a look in my closet for some items I wanted to donate! (Even my hubby grabbed some suits that he knew he wasn’t going to wear and decided to donate those to Goodwill, as well!)
What is the Boston Store Goodwill Sale?
If you’ve been following along with me for a while, you know I love the Boston Store Goodwill sale! I participated in it earlier this year and donated some used items and purchased some great finds! Here are some facts about Goodwill and the semi-annual Sale!
- For 23 years, the Boston Store Goodwill Sale has been giving shoppers the opportunity to have a positive impact on their communities by donating clothing and household textiles to Goodwill at their local Boston Store.
- Company-wide, the goal is to collect over two million pounds of donations, which would provide about 275,000 hours of job training services to benefit Goodwill’s job placement and training programs!
- Donations will be sold at Goodwill stores within the communities in which they are collected. The donations are vital to helping Goodwill provide the services people need to find jobs and care for their families.
- Just ONE bag of clothes creates one hour of on-the-job training for someone who needs employment assistance!
How to donate:
Bring your donation to the Goodwill drop off at your local Boston Store from Wednesday, September 13 – Saturday, September 30. For each donated item, you will receive Goodwill Sale coupons, up to 30% off (which are valid the duration of the sale)!!
What do I donate to the Boston Store Goodwill Sale?
Some popular donation needs are: Men’s and Ladies’ shirts & blouses, business suits, shoes, outerwear, jewelry, accessories, and soft home goods (i.e. blankets)
What if I don’t have any items to donate?
No worries! You can donate $1 to Goodwill at any register and receive a Goodwill Sale coupon. 100% of the $1 donation benefits programs at Goodwill.
After donating our items at the Boston Store Goodwill Sale, we received coupons to use on new finds! Here’s a peek at the items I tried on! Can you see a color theme? This look will most definitely be on repeat! I’m loving the faux leather jacket with the gorgeous plum floral print off the shoulder top! Paired with peep-toe booties and a lighter colored handbag, this outfit feels balanced and not too monochromatic.
