SPECIAL THANKS TO: Melia Nassau Beach Resort for inviting us and making our stay delightful!
9 Days in The Bahamas!
Before this trip, the only place out of the USA that Kevin and I traveled together was Riviera Maya, Mexico for our honeymoon (almost 4 years ago)! While Mexico was spectacular and we did take numerous domestic trips between our honeymoon and this year, we were eager to head to The Bahamas! There is just something about an international tropical getaway that puts a huge smile on our face (and rejuvenates our mind & body)! =)
Checking in to Melia Nassau Beach / Accommodations
Arriving late afternoon on Sunday, we were one of the only guests in line! Check in was extremely quick & easy. They gave us our all-inclusive bracelets which were made of wood and a comfortable string – a much better bracelet than most resorts! =) We immediately went to the restaurant reservation table where we booked our first two days of dinners. After that was taken care of, we grabbed an ice cold Bahama Mama(!) and headed to our room.
Details of the Deluxe Ocean View Room – All Inclusive
We took the fairly long trek to our room on the 4th floor. Once we opened the pretty white wood door, our jaws dropped. The view was stunning. Palm trees, the gorgeous pool, and the most crystal clear turquoise blue ocean we ever did see!
The overall feel of the room was very tropical and contemporary. I loved the white and blue patterns that were used throughout the suite. On the bed, there were white linens (my favorite) which were always extremely clean and had a fresh scent.
The bathroom boasts updated tile & a gorgeous natural stone countertop. The extra space under the sink was perfect for all the extra toiletries and makeup I packed! In the hallway, there was a little niche for coffee, an ice bucket, and extra waters. Along with a large wardrobe for hanging up those clothes you don’t want to get wrinkled!
Restaurants / Entertainment
Sometimes when you go to an all-inclusive resort, you end up with a lack of food and beverage choices. This was not the case with Melia Nassau Beach Resort! This expansive resort boasts many restaurants: Esta Vida (drinks & tapas), The Marketplace (Buffet-Style), Aqua (Italian), Cilantro (Mexican), Black Angus (High-End Steakhouse), Nikkei (Asian-Fusion – Our favorite!), O’Grille (outdoor American), and Starbucks (coffee & pastries)!
The hallways are decorated with bright colors and comfy, chic furniture.
The stone on the main level is stunning!
There are three restaurants and the LEVEL lounge up the steps from the main floor (and on the same floor as our guest room).
Our favorite restaurant at the resort! More details below!
Esta Vida was a great place to lounge in the evenings for a drink and some tapas.
The views at Esta Vida during the day were gorgeous; at night the wall with the hexagons lit up with different colors!
The main level bar. This was typically packed after 3pm in the afternoon.
A cozy sitting area by the main bar & lobby.
Aqua (Italian) and The Marketplace have outdoor seating.
Feeding one of the five kitty cats on the property at O’Grille! They are so sweet and love to be pet!
The Market Place was a great place to go to snack! It was also the best place for breakfast.
The tile work is stunning. I love the silver metallic floral pattern on the white tile.
A typical breakfast that I chose from The Marketplace. Bacon, oranges, cantaloupe, and a chocolate chip croissant! Of course we’d grab a Starbucks, too! My pick was an Iced Grande Sugar-Free Vanilla Whole Milk Latte!
Yummy Starbucks!
The Starbucks area at night for entertainment! Loved the lighting!
As mentioned earlier, Nikkei was our FAVORITE restaurant. I’m not kidding when I say we had dinner there 4 nights! It was amazing!
Delicious, hey? That steak was so tender it seemed to melt in your mouth! I’m craving it right now! 😉
Pool / Ocean Views
While the food & rooms are great, the place where we spent most of our time was on the beach. The pools were stunning, but nothing beats the perfectly clear, sparkling turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We were beach bums and spent our days under the sun, palm trees, emerged in the refreshing water, and enjoyed the amazing Bahama Breeze!
Location / What To Do In the Area
There are a tremendous amount of islands in The Bahamas! During this particular trip, we visited New Providence Island & Paradise Island. We spent time in Downtown Nassau (see the blog post here), and visited the “must-see” sites on Paradise Island.
A few things to do around Nassau, Bahamas:
- Cable Beach (our resort was on this beach) (see the blog post here)
- Visit Downtown Nassau (The Straw Market, Senor Frogs, Hard Rock Cafe, Shop the stores on Bay Street, Parliament Square)
- The Queen’s Staircase & Fort Charlotte (Read more in my post here)
- Atlantis – Day Passes are available (Note: We didn’t find Atlantis as exciting some people said it to be – we were so happy we stayed at our resort instead!). Some places to visit at Atlantis: Marine Habitat at Atlantis, Dolphin Cay, The Marina Shops at Atlantis (The marina was adorable & free!)
- Snorkeling
- Junkanoo Beach
- Versailles Gardens and French Cloisters (Paradise Island / One and Only Ocean Club) – This is a MUST see!! I will share a blog post on this gorgeous place as well!
- A great way to get around is the local bus! It’s about $1.50 per person – one way. We felt very safe and everyone was so friendly and wanted to chat with us!
The Verdict
This was honestly our best vacation, yet! The natives are so kind, the weather is just the right temperature, and the water is the most stunning we’ve ever seen! I could go on and on about how amazing The Bahamas are, but you really need to see the islands for yourself to truly understand. Before we went, we didn’t totally believe all the amazing reviews. We thought that it would just be another great tropical vacation. After we arrived, we realized that The Bahamas are something special. We have no doubt that we will be back!
Perfect for: Everyone! Couples, groups of friends, families with children of all ages, business group/conference travel
