If you’re anything like me, you’ve seen big, gorgeous hair on models & actresses and wonder how the heck they get their hair so full & voluminous! Of course, most of them have extensions (not fair! lol) which make it seem like they have thicker hair then they do. You may even have a lot of hair, but it could just be very fine – giving your hairstyle a very limp appearance. Sometimes it’s such a challenge to pouf up your hair just so! But no worries! Here are some tips to help boost the volume of your hair. You can use them on a daily – or just special occasion basis.
Shampoo: It all starts in the shower… opt for a shampoo that will really get the follicles on your scalp to perk up. Work your shampoo onto your head by massaging your scalp, stimulating the blood flow. (Favorite brands: Paul Mitchell, Pureology, and Fekkai)
Conditioner: A lot of these products weigh your hair down. Steer away from anything that says “hydrating” and “smoothing” on the bottle because these most likely have oils in them that will keep your hair from gaining volume. (Favorite brands: Paul Mitchell, Pureology, and Fekkai)
Root Lifter: Before blowdrying, spritz a small amount of root lifter in your hair to make sure your roots stay up. This can be in either mousse or spray form just make sure not to put in too much product to work against you and weigh hair down in the process. (Favorite Brand: Bed Head)
Blowdrying: Be sure to flip your head over and start blowdrying with a round brush. After the dampness is gone, flip the hair back over and begin to blow dry the rest in sections. The drier the hair, the more volume you can achieve.
Tease: Lightly tease the parts of hair at the crown of your head with a teasing comb.
Hairspray: Look for hairsprays that have thickening or volumizing agents built into them to help with your fine hair. Use them to finalize your overall look. (Favorite Brand: Bed Head)
Layers: When you get your next cut, ask for layers! By layering sections of hair, a texturized look is created which gives off the sense of thicker hair.
Enjoy your voluminous hair!

Great post! As someone with fine hair I often find it hard to get that Victoria’s Secret look.
